Alwasiyya tells the story of Pepe, who after the death of her husband Ricardo undertakes an inner journey to reconcile with the absence, rediscover his identity and open himself to new ways of being in the world. Between love, memory and resilience, the film shows vulnerability in the face of the unknown, the calm of a suspended moment, the connection between human beings and nature as a space of refuge and transformation and the need for care for LGBTIQ+ seniors. The title of the documentary, Alwasiyya (from Hispanic Arabic, “executor”), reflects the role that Pepe has assumed not only in the emotional management of the loss, but also in the preservation and dissemination of Ricardo's artistic legacy, especially his pictorial work. But this story goes far beyond the personal.
