Rite of Way is a horror comedy that unfolds in a high school gymnasium, where a gathering of teachers perform a ceremonial "rite" involving drawing slips from a bowl to determine… something that risks life and limb. An interruption by a late arrival reveals personal and professional challenges of the teachers through comedic banter as the leader of the group tries to resume the ritual. The protagonist, Cherie, is chosen by the bowl, but resists her fate until she finds solidarity and unexpected support from her colleagues. The film humorously explores themes of responsibility, community, and the burdens of educators roles, all set against the backdrop of an absurd cult gathering.
